What type of cable is needed for a PoE to USB-C setup?

You must use CAT5, CAT5e, or CAT6 cables. Standard CAT3 or 2-conductor speaker wires are not supported for PoE delivery - but workarounds are available. Contact us for options!

Can I use a standard 15W PoE switch?

Possibly - it all depends on the power draw of the connected device. Samsung Galaxy Tabs, Lenovo Tabs, and Amazon Fire tablets generally draw 15W or less. Other high power draw devices like iPads (18W nominal - requires PoE+ / 25W per port) or Microsoft Surface tablets (up to 50-60+W / PoE++ up to 90W/port) would require the appropriate PoE power source to deliver adequate output without overloading the connected DataCharger or adapter.
