Clockwise vs Counter-clockwise Turning - Tightening Screws / Assembling VidaMount VESA Fixed Floor Stands
Assembling our VidaMount Fixed Floor Stand and not quite sure how the collars and columns get assembled together? Not a problem - this article is designed to help!
Unlikely typical screw-based designs where fasteners are used to assemble things together, our VidaMount Fixed Floor Stand has a truly unique, multi-section, split design that allows the pieces to be disassembled and stored compactly. A quick synopsis of how this design works is shown below.
To build up the VESA floor stand's height, our design uses a patent-pending, column & collar system. This unique system not only allows quick assembly, but there are no screws visible from the outside - for a clean, seamless look and finish.
Because of its unique, hidden-screw design, many installations are often incorrectly done as the turning direction for "Tightening / Loosening" the screws are OPPOSITE of standard conventions. The most important thing to remember is:
Tighten = Turn screws COUNTER-CLOCKWISE / Assemble
Loosen = Turn screws CLOCKWISE / Take apart
This is because the:
- When the screw is turned COUNTER-CLOCKWISE, the screw travels away from the center & out towards the periphery / column.
The screw eventually hits up against the outside column, causing the (2) parts to lock / jam together - making it secured.
- When the screw is turned CLOCKWISE, the screw travels towards the center & into the column.
The screw is no longer jamming up against the outside column - causing the (2) parts to loosen - allowing it to be taken apart.
