No worry; Dean is aware (see my post on the CQC site in the Beta section). He is going to work on a much more comprehensive export method that will also include events and such... I am pushing your interfaces through my system and will have some comments soon as promised!

Thanks!

Dave

I'm pushing him on the export stuff. I think it's extremely important. I saw your post in the CQC forum and I think you had a lot of valid points. Hopefully he will get something done soon.

Agree - even small steps would be a great improvement. I will keep pushing as well.

Sergio, I looked at the templates briefly.I have your templates installed on a client that is not where my cqc licence is installed ,Ive tried to update with your templates to my server and the bin is locked. Is this something you do for safeguarding your stuff?I agree with you guys about having a way to export your systems. It would be nice if you could use a certain # of devices that all you would have to do is change the names in the editor and would work with any templates,And leave cqc the way it is now to work with any complex logic.

You might have missed it in my initial post but did look at the back-up and restore procedure in the following post: http://www.vidabox.com/forum/showthread.php?t=417

What I would do is stop the CQC service. You have to stop the service otherwise you get an error that the bin folder is locked or something like that. Then rename your existing CQC directory in program files to something else like CQC-bak. If you still get an error when you rename the folder then you need to reboot and stop the service again. That should clear up the locked folder issue. Then I would copy my CQC folder to program files. Run the installer linked in the first post.

One problem I know you will have is that my backup will prompt for a new CQC license since your machine is different than mine. I think Dean will not have an issue giving you another license for your box so that you can ise by backup but I can't guarantee that. That is up to Dean.

If you want to switch back to your old CQC install, you would do the same procedure but you would rename the CQC folder that is my backup to something new and restore your old CQC folder to a name of CQC. Rerun the installer for the version you are working with in your CQC install. It should not prompt you for a license since your CQC install was already licensed on your machine.

I understand how to unzip the templates. The first set of templates you posted I got to work and I just had dean send me a new licence file. What i'm talking about is running the installer to set your templates up as the master server,And view it on any of the 4 clients I have .When I try to change this IT runs all the way through the installer, And says the bin is locked and abort the install. Its no big deal ,but if I got your templates working with my stuff I would like to use all my clients.

Sergio,

thanks for sharing these, I have started to do a reverse enginering on how you are architecting, and its pretty clever. I am liking the idea of the virtual MZA driver, I notice that there are are a few of these not working, updated; etc;

If you dont mind, as i start to dig into this would you mind been hit with quetions. For example off the bat, I am going to start on the Squeeze box

I see therer are drivers for 2 - cool but then why also a file tag repository?

-d

PS - hope you had a good time in amsterdam.

We just got back today. We had a great show at Amsterdam. Lot's of people there really liked CQC and everything we were doing with it. I think we are going to get a lot of good new business from the Euro market thanks to this show.

Anyhow, I'm using the file tag repo because I wanted to be able to provide pages that have a CAB for the music. I couldn't do that very easily if I just used the squeezebox for all music navigation. I like leveraging the squeezebox for it's strength which is online music services. I feel that I can manage the music a little easier using the file tag repo and I have more control on how I can display the music to the user for interaction.

Feel free to ask questions. I'll be more than happy to answer them.

Default Noob Zone 2 Issue??

Zone 2 doesn't show a Power Field status, or volume status when using the MZA template. Error details shows that the problem is being caused by not being able to access "Receiver02". How can I eliminate this problem?

Thanks in advance for the help!
